He became well-known in the film industry for his illustrations whose amazing celebrity likenesses promoted movies and their merchandise such as Anastasia, The Santa Clause, Last Action Hero, The Lost World and countless action thrillers. His clients include many major studios. In addition to movie posters, Weistling has designed inspirational, nostalgic and science fiction collector plate series as well as artwork for Sega pinball machines. His art can be seen on numerous magazine, book, CD and video covers.
Published by Mill Pond Press since 1998. Morgan’s masterful oil paintings of inspirational subjects and children draw you in and engage the imagination and emotions of the viewer. Morgan writes, “My hope is that people who view my artwork will feel invited into the picture; to be eyewitnesses to the scene as it unfolds...Whatever it is, I know it must come from my heart or I won’t stay interested nor will the viewer.”
When Weistling turned his considerable talents to fine gallery art, he found himself unable to keep up with collector demand for his originals. His realistic paintings and religious subjects make the viewer feel like an eye-witness to an unfolding scene, due in part to his experience in the film industry.
Morgan Weistling, his wife JoAnn (also an artist) and their daughter Brittany, make their home in California. He is an artist that may appear new to many print collectors who may not realize that they have seen his amazing work promoting the major motion pictures of large film companies. His artwork is included in the private collections of many prominent figures in the film industry. Working in a Los Angeles art supply store while attending art school, Morgan Weistling often showed some of his own work to noted artists whenever they came in. One such customer was a famous movie poster artist. As a result of their chance encounter, Weistling began a notable career as an illustrator at the age of 19.
